New Year, New Me Crap

Welcome.jpg

I absolutely hate that New Year, New Me -crap! It's not true. You are the same person you were 24 hours ago. Things don't change that quickly. And if you really had a problem with the way you were doing life, you'd have handled that a long time ago. Miss me with that nonsense.

That being said, any opportunity to better yourself I am here for. But why must we wait until late-December, early-January, to address something that has been a problem in your life since 2011. Why are we putting off till the new year something that we could have been accomplished or at least been working on?

Why do we procrastinate? We know the patterns we have that aren't good for us. I mean, I'm a failing vegetarian who does not make it to the gym I pay my good money for. These are simple fixes, I know. These could have no longer been a problem in September, but I didn't move. I didn't do anything about either. I have put simple things off. I keep putting off beefing up my savings account, for one. But why do I do this? Why do we do this?

Putting things off until tomorrow, next month or next year kind of inspires hope. It's weird but rock with me. It's like we hope we will be better in the future. But the thing is, we are already better than we were. We are continuously learning and growing - at least we should be- and 2018 we were not the people we were in 2013. Yeah, we made mistakes, we may or may not have been on our 18th virginity with that same ol' ain't shit ass (shout out to the homie, you're a real one) but we were more comfortable in our own skin. We weren't trippin' missing out on events and were okay with chillin' at home alone. We learned how to not send the paragraph but just respond "bet", we stopped jumping to conclusions letting our imaginations run away from us. But none of these things happened over night.

New Year, New Me- total crap! But the evolution process is real sis. We are continuously growing and acknowledging our stupid mistakes. The key is to start making changes as soon as we realize what we are doing. We can't grow stagnant. We've gotta hit delete not just change their name. We have to hide that debit card and delete it from all of the apps it's connected to. We've got to make it to the gym that we're paying for, and really cut out that sugar and up our water intake. We've gotta make it to the church house and not just pull it up on our phone from our bed every Sunday.

We've got this! We are ready to hit this process and come out on the other end. And we won't put off making these changes until 2020.
